Amazon merging control
StoreFeeder recently disabled the ability to merge Amazon orders. We request that this be restored as a user-configurable option.
Proposal
- Allow sellers to enable or disable Amazon order merging.
Perhaps have merging disabled by default, and if enabled, maybe a clear disclaimer: 'Enabled at your own risk' or something to that effect.
The likely reason for disabling merging is concern for Amazon account health, specifically Valid Tracking Rate (VTR).
We acknowledge that risk but were able to manage it satisfactorily. Monitoring VTR is straightforward.
Advantages
- Merging orders produces tangible savings, especially when orders are smaller, lower-value items.
- Time-cost:
Amazon-generated RM labels are inferior to standard RM labels generated through the StoreFeeder API. They lack extra identifying information (order numbers etc.).
When multiple orders for the same customer appear on a single pick/pack, you cannot tell which label corresponds to which order. The only distinguishing detail is the tracking/delivery confirmation number on the label, which slows packing.
Merged orders utilise proper RM labels, which do (or can) include order numbers and SKUs.
