Batch Number tracking
Introduce functionality within the app to input batch numbers at the point of inbound delivery.
Further, introduce the ability within the app and web-based site to view real-time stock availability by batch, and allocate specific batch numbers to orders (e.g., 3 units from Batch A for order 1, 2 units from Batch B for order 2). Currently, there could be instances where batch numbers are mixed between the orders - we also propose the forced tracking confirmation at the point of picking and despatch to ensure the correct batch number can be traced from inbound, to stock location, to order and finally to customer.
This would streamline operations, especially for products that cannot have mixed batches within the same order—a process that currently requires manual intervention. Without a way to track batch-level inventory digitally, confirming stock availability becomes challenging, making it difficult to ensure orders can be fully fulfilled without additional purchasing. Batch tracking will also assist in managing manufacturer recalls or identifying defective batches.
This, of course, would require products to be specifically identified for batch tracking at the point of product creation.
